MANTHAN
SANKET originated MANTHAN to unify its ideas and activities related to exploring and nurturing hidden potentials of the people from cornered sections of society, especially in the children and youth. The word MANTHAN is a Sanskrit term which refers to the process of churning. All our activities dedicated to the said purpose are now under MANTHAN. MANTHAN is a community development programme. There is a phrase decorated with it,”aatmanah antah drashtum”, which means – to see within the soul. Our activities under this programme focus on handholding the beneficiaries to identify their potentials in relation with their education, health & other hidden skills suppressed under daily chores and to nurture them with the primary purpose of creating awareness about pursuable possibilities. By engaging them in such a way the programme also helps them overcome the distressful situations they usually face within the family because following an interest demands a favourable environment to be equipped with.

The concept of family has been changing rapidly. The most unique epitome of living affectionately together is called a Family. With changing times, family became an unavoidable necessity, and then it became a choice of living. This programme is a new addition to SANKET’s activities. The background of this initiative is based on some facts and thoughts that came through the idea of creating a new connectivity, a new linkage between the wider scope of social activities and the human resources remaining unutilized. This does not limit the resources to follow this particular scope, but they would have the freedom of exploring their choices, potentialities. Sometimes these scopes could bring them earning. These unutilized resources refer to the organized and unorganized skilled people belonging to the sections that SANKET is mainly working with. We believe that with the adequate orientation anyone becomes cognizant. With this belief we have curated this initiative of Family Support Programme.

The term ‘capacity’ always indicates the hold of persons on their particular skill/s for coping with life and for unfolding potentialities. Having child-centered focus, the path always demands equal attention, attention also about the parents, the adults around children towards achieving the objectives. Engaging children in understanding their potential helps them cope with daily constraints, daily chores in the family. With this thought we continue to fetch objectives also by engaging the adults as much as possible in exploring their children, by practicing adaptable discourse with children and more such. We hope that both the aspects of child-friendly nature of parents and increasing adaptability in children can serve the purpose of inclusive development of children. We, in daily life, use a number of skills to cope with situations, especially when it is unwanted. A knowledge of access to such skills could help life become better and it becomes more appropriate when we start inculcating this from childhood. Nowadays many educational institutions are showing interest to include this content as a part of their regular syllabus but a larger number of schools are unable to look upon such materials due to various management level constraints. So, we target to reach out to those schools / institutions such as selected government-led schools, semi-aided schools and also free-schools along with maintaining collaborations with non-governmental organizations for conducting capacity building sessions. As capacity building is a non-negligible part of life, we professionally extend this facility also to a wider section of society.
